Research

New opening hours for the research room:
The research room at the San Benito County Historical Museum will be open to the public for San Benito County research on the second Monday of every month, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Small that it is, there are at least 1000 sources available for research. There are assessment rolls, property records, business directories, vital records, family histories, school year books, great registers, incarceration information, political records, educational registrations, cemetery information, war information, and much more. The research room entrance is located on the east side of the museum.

Available Materials

The museum houses a large collection of vital records to aid genealogists in their search for family history. Marriage certificates, local newspapers, historic maps, tax records, and Great Registers are just a few of the items available. Please e-mail for specific information concerning your research project. Our back log of research projects is currently 4 to 5 months behind schedule, your request will be logged in and saved and we will try to get to them when time allows. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Research is available by volunteers at $12.00 per hour payable in advance. The Historical Society is 501.C.3 non-profit organization.
Please note that we cannot advise you on how to complete your family research. We can only take requests for specific questions about a specific person.
