The public is invited to a presentation by Jan Adkins titled "African Americans of Monterey County", including Ishmael Williams who lived in San Juan Bautista prior to the Civil War. The book is a first-of-its-kind pictorial historical account of the leaders of Monterey Bay's African American communities from pre-California to present. Jan has written several Arcadia books on the history of African Americans and will have books available to purchase and will be happy to sign your copy. Refreshments will be served.
