Our Archival Holdings
The society maintains a large collection of archival materials. These include county histories and other reference books, local history subject files, files on some local families and individuals, San Benito County newspapers, tax assessment rolls, business directories, school year books, great registers, cemetery information, family histories, diaries, maps, photos, memorabilia and much more.
Because we are an archive, we have research materials. In most cases we do not have your family history already written in our files. Cataloging of our collection is ongoing and our holdings are by no means completely indexed.
Our materials are available for use by researchers who visit the research room. Searches of our holdings are also available by written request. We perform research only in our own holdings. If your research needs extend beyond our holdings, please ask us how to obtain other information. We are located just down the street from the San Benito County Courthouse and a visit to the Research Center can easily be combined with a visit to the county offices.
The Wapple House Museum is open by APPOINTMENT ONLY until further notice. We look forward to providing you with a peek at George and Gertrude's home. Please call 831.635.0335 for an appointment.
